Anybody who has spent time in a kitchen knows what blenders- or food blenders – are. It does not matter whether you never cook or bake, whether you’re the parent, the teenager or even a small child. Everybody knows most kitchen appliances and what they are used for.
It is used as kitchen appliance for liquidising and chopping up food. They are popular with households where time is of the essence and food needs to be prepared quickly as opposed to the old, traditional way of using a chopping board and knife. You save time and are able to divert your attention to other tasks more quickly.
Blenders are popular with experienced chefs but also with the ordinary housewife and her family members. The appliance is recognised by the container – often Perspex, but also steel – that sits on top of a propeller like driven bottom. The appliance is plugged into an electric or battery driven socket and provides the power for the high-speed motor that causes the whirling action that chops or liquidises the food products.
Maintenance is very easy too. The appliance is taken apart after use and the different parts cleaned before it is assembled again. Unless otherwise specified by a manufacturer the parts of the blenders are easily cleaned in soapy water in the sink. Bigger parts such as the container may be washed in the dishwasher.
The moving parts such as the blades are better cleaned under running tap water and thereafter in the basin with soapy water. After washing most of them are simply dried with a soft cloth and put away until the next use. They are easy to clean and easy to operate and use. It is advised, however, to have an adult present when children use them. These appliances are designed and manufactured by quite a number of brands and it depends on personal preference which blenders you buy since they all perform the same function.
However, some are more expensive than others because they may work faster and offer different speeds and levels of effectiveness even though essentially they all perform the same task, which is to cut or liquidise.
They are popular for chopping up vegetables that you want to use in salads, for example. Think of big chunks of carrots or celery, for instance. And of course they are cut into smaller pieces too when you want to use the vegetables in cooking because you want smaller pieces to save on cooking time.
Healthy living is on everybody’s lips. That is why the smoothie has become so popular and why superfoods such as berries are becoming important in diets all over the world. By using blenders the smoothies are ready in a matter of minutes whether it is for breakfast or a day time snack for the kids after school – or after your gym workout.
Fruit is ideal for blending since it is mostly soft and takes little effort from your machine’s blades to come up with the smoothie of your choice.
Soups are also liquidised in a matter of seconds after you have cooked the vegetables for a short while to soften them, before putting them through the process of liquidising. Years ago there was no effective way, really, to prepare soups so quickly.
Blenders are available in virtually every shop that sells kitchen appliances. You can also order them online from reputable retailers and companies that market household appliances. All the important manufacturers advertise and sell them. They also make lovely gifts for someone who loves his or her kitchen and cooking.
Because most people live fast lives today, the modern conveniences such as good kitchen appliances have become indispensable to our lives and we rely on them heavily in our homes.
